- Indonesia is one country that is known to have a very large of biological diversity. Biotechnology as a technology is utilizes the biological organisms through the process to produce useful products for the well human being. It is expected to provide added value of the potential biological values that owned by Indonesia. The advancing in science and technology has brought the real change to human life. Biotechnology gives great promising to solve various issues related to increase on human welfare in Indonesia. Recently, the use of biotechnology is widespread for various purposes such as food processing and industrial products, the efficiency of raw material products, the efficiency of production cost, environmentally friendly product orientation, etc. The more rapidly development of biotechnology, it needs to be supported by intensive research activities, besides that it needed special attention to ethical and moral issues in the development of this technology. It takes a wise rule to maintain a sustainable industrial development, the ability to build networks to adapt to rapid technological change, and the ability to meet the needs of various parties. Partnership approach should be based on the principle of mutual benefit at every stage of activity, in terms of raw materials for downstream industries. 2 Indonesia government has been developed a policy to regulate the development of technology, and agreed to the principle of natural resource base of industrialization. Bio-resources is one of the local natural resources, ready to use in the development of technology. Development of bio-industries that use biotechnology to process the bioresources into valuable products is significantly expected to support the efforts in promoting economic growth for nation.
