  • This research discusses why womenomics policy became the economic protection strategy of Japan in the reign of Shinzo Abe through the increased participation of women workers in Japan. The theory used in this research is the keynesianism theory in which John M. Keynes stated that the government is the party that needs to be involved in restoring the economic crisis due to its knowledge of the economic situation of the country. The type of this research is explanative research using data collection techniques in the form of library findings. The results obtained from this research are the emergence of womenomics policy as Japan’s economic protection strategy is based on the knowledge of the government on the main problems underlying the slow economic growth of Japan. The implementation of this policy is able to provide a way out for the economic problems faced by Japan, especially related to the employment problem. In addition to being functioned in the economic aspect, womenomics policy also has other impacts where it is able to become a policy that serves to build a better Japanese gender image at the international level.
