  • This study aims to determine, the types of bamboo and bamboo characteristics, bamboo density, water potential, and availability in the Boon Pring Area, Sanankerto Village, Turen District, Malang Regency. This research took place in January 2017. Determination of the sample was carried out using the plot method which was placed systematically with an area of 18 hectares with a total sample size of 45 plots measuring 20 m x 20 m and the Sampling Intensity was 10%. The method of data collection is done by purposive sampling that is directly appointed. Based on the results of research that in the bamboo forest in the Boon Pring Area of Sanankerto Village there are four types of bamboo including Ater bamboo (Gigantochloa atter), Betung bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper), Apus bamboo (Gigantochloa apus) and Ampel bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) originating from the Gigantochloa, Dendrocalamus and Bambusa clans. The characteristics of bamboo obtained at the study site may include the morphology of four (4) types of bamboo, namely Javanese bamboo, Betung bamboo, Ampel bamboo and apus bamboo. The characters are seen from the stems, midribs and leaves, the diameter and color of each bamboo. The results showed that bamboo in the Boon Pring area of Sanankerto Village had a density of 97.7 clumps / ha. In addition, the number of adult culms was 1,306 and the regeneration level was 1,141.Based on the results of research in the Boon Pring Area, Sanankerto Village, Turen District, Malang Regency. Availability of existing water, researchers generally calculate the flow rate at one gathering point that is there. From the research data the cross-sectional area is 68 m2. From the results of the speed of 0.625 m / s. And the results of the discharge obtained is 42.5 m3 / s.
