Daftar Isi:
  • Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria (L) Nielsen) is one of many soft woods that have an easy to shape characteristic and also has a good hardiness. This plant also has high evapotranspiration metabolisms that make it need a humid climate with an annual rainfall around 2000-2500 mm so it can grow optimally. This tree belongs to fast-growing species which means it has a short harvest time like around 5 years. Hence, this tree becoming a wood industry commodity which has a high economic value. Pest attack is one the reason for the production decrease rate for this plant. This research aims is to determine the pest species in sengon plant. To determine pest attack intensity based on lifespan class and to determine pest damage rate which causes by the pest itself in sengon plants. This research was conducted in August until Septemer 2019 in community forest at dusun Argosari Kecamatan Jabung District Malang, East Java. Random sampling with 5% sampling intensity was used to collect data with 20x20 m plot. Estimation of pest attack percentage counted based on total amount of attacked plants and total amount plants observed. Based on data research, there are 7 pest species which came from 5 different family. Average pest attack percentage its differs in 2 years old plants and 4 years old plants but both of them are fall in middle category (38%). Pest damage rate percentage for every plot at 4 years old and 2 years old is 24,75% which fall in light category from 461 sengon plants that observed.
