- Single Parent and Child Communication Patterns in Maintaining Religious Norms (Case Study of a Single Parent with Child in Siwalan Village, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency) Supervisor I: Dr. Muslimin Machmud, M.Si Supervisor II: Dr. Frida Kusumastuti, M.Si Children are God's safekeeping for parents to be educated and maintained so that they grow and develop into children who are obedient to God and are also beneficial to religion, nation and also carry the spirit of learning to educate children. The nature of leadership is very important, because parents can give color to the behavior of children, because parents are fully responsible for leading and educating children. This thesis supports 1) to study the pattern of communication between single parents and children in religious norms in Siwalan village, Mlarak district, Ponorogo district. 2) to understand the communication of single parents with children in religious norms in Siwalan village, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive type and uses social penetration theory. The data source of this research are single parents and teenagers in Siwalan village, Mlarak district, Ponorogo district. The subjects in this study were 18 subjects, consisting of 9 single parents, including 6 single mothers of parents and 3 single parents of father and 9 children from each single parent. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that 1) There were 4 kinds of communication patterns used by single parents and children in maintaining religious norms in Siwalan village, Mlarak sub-district, Ponorogo, namely equality communication patterns (Equality Pattern) for each individual to share opportunities evenly and equally. Separate balanced communication patterns (Balance Split Pattern) everyone holds control or power. Unbalanced Split Patterns of communication one person is considered to be the most dominating and controlling. One person's Monopoly Pattern is considered the most powerful. The communication pattern that should be given by parents is the equality communication pattern and in this study indeed this communication pattern dominates the most. 2) Barriers to communication between single parents and teenagers are lack of time to meet with children, busyness with work, lack of knowledge about religious education, parents who are too hard on children, making it difficult for children to be open to parents about all their problems.
