- The stereotype is someone's opinion about the perception in which the person is categorized. Basically, stereotypes are needed because humans need something to simplify the complex realities of life. Indonesia has various ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds. This is what led to stereotypes in society, especially the stereotypes of East Indonesia. The stereotype itself can be built easily through the media, one of the programs is television. The power of television in delivering information and entertainment can be an effective media. Therefore, researchers are interested to express and interpret the stereotypes that arise through symbols on Waktu Indonesia Timur Net.Tv. The research used is qualitative with interpretative qualitative types of research, namely explaining and describing stereotypes as a system of meaning of education in the form of text. The basic research used is Roland Barthes Semiotics. The scope of this research is program on Net.Tv called Waktu Indonesia Timur. The analyzed unit includes dialogue talents, wardrobe talents, makeup talent, property, and showtime. The objects studied were 5 episodes with the technique of watching Waktu Indonesia Timur reruns on the Waktu Indonesia Timur NET Youtube account. The analysis technique used is Roland Barthes Semiotics. The results of this study show that the Waktu Indonesia Timur is a television program that not only sells laughter but also as a forum to show the existence of eastern Indonesia, especially in the entertainment world. Not only that, but this program also tries to refute the negative stereotypes that have emerged about eastern Indonesia and as a forum for criticism of government performance. This can be seen from all the components in this program. The symbols that appear in the episodes aired on this program show a variety of meanings regarding the stereotypes of eastern Indonesia that are trying to be built. This needs to be realized as a motive for the replacement of this program is to deliberately break the myths that arise in the community about eastern Indonesia. Negative stereotypes of eastern Indonesia, such as eastern Indonesians are rude, scary, do not have high fashion tastes and have low insight knowledge, are proven wrong by this program with various components displayed, namely wardrobe, property, talent dialogue, and program segments.
