- Economic Dispatch (ED) is a load sharing problem in a power plant unit to meet the electricity needs with minimum generation costs. in this study Economic operation uses two limitations, namely equality constraints and inequality constraints. In addition to the limitations that exist, the power system needs to be considered for the power lost at the time of transmission (power losses). So this study will solve ED problems using the Gaussian Particle Swarm Optimization (GPSO) algorithm by considering power losses which will then be compared with the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm and the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. To complete the power loss calculation on the system using the Newton-Raphson method (NR), the PSO method can reduce the generation cost by 165.07 $ / h or cheaper by 1.05%, while using the GPSO method the generation cost can be reduced by 160.07 $ / h or cheaper by 1.02%, compared to using the ACO method.
