- The development of the generator using a permanent magnet for small – scale wind turbines from day to day is becoming more and more studied. Designed by the generator there are selections of the number of slots used for design. The width of the teeth in the number of slots can affect the characteristics of the designed generators. To find out more details about the effect of the width of the teeth on the slots, the study was done by comparing 4 different design generators to the width of their teeth. The width of the slot teeth compared to 3 uniform width of 13 mm, 10 mm, and 18 mm, and one nonuniform width of the teeth is 7.5 mm and 22.5 mm using stator tooth width method in one model generator of the 12 slot 8 pole. Each design is a development for getting a 500 watt generator at maximum speed of 500 Rpm. Ouput from every design of voltage, current, power, and cogging torque is then analyzed and compared to Microsoft Excel. The conclusion obtained after doing this study is that the increase in the width of the teeth of the slot in one model generator greatly affects the parameters of the output. The greater the size of stator’s teeth from a generator, hence the higher the voltage, current, power, and cogging torque value.
