  • Background: Stunting is one of the nutrition problems due to chronic malnutrition in the first 1000 days of life, which will have an impact on the growth and physical and mental development children. Cause of stunting one of them is the lack of nutritional intake during toddler, exclusive breastfeeding is the best nutrition received a baby in the first 6 months of life. the purpose of the study was to determine the relationship of exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting for toddlers aged 6-60 months in the Sumbersari, Malang. Method: The researched was observasional analytic with population 150 toddlers used retrospective case control and accidental sampling technique. Then was gotten the sample of this study was 43 toddlers (6-60) months. Data collection by questionnaire and body height measurement. Data analysis was bivariate used the chi square test. Result: The result of study showed the percentage of stunting in toddlers age 6-60 months, who were not exclusively breastfeed were stunting 75%, the exclusively breastfeed were stunting 15,8%, while who exclusively breastfeed did not stunting 84,2% and who were not exclusively breastfeed also not stunting 25%. Greater in toddlers who didn’t get exclusive breastfeeding stunting than toddlers who get exclusive breastfeeding. The result of test chi square showed that there was relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting with p –value (0,000<0,05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between exlcusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers age 6-60 months. Therefore breastfeeding mothers must give exclusive breastfeeding to the baby, so that the baby gets good nutrition and can grow optimally.
