Daftar Isi:
- Stereotype phenomena can be seen from the experience of students from Lombok at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) who claimed to have difficulty socializing with Javanese students. Some factors that cause this are cultural and linguistic differences. The ethnic Lombok students felt they had to be careful when communicating with Javanese students because of the assessment which assumed that Javanese people were gentle and their tone of speech was lower. The formulation of the problem in this study is whether there is a relationship between stereotypes on the behavior of Javanese people with the effectiveness of communication among Lombok students. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of stereotypes on the behavior of Javanese people with the effectiveness of communication among Lombok students. This research uses quantitative research methods with correlational types. The population in this study amounted to 395 students from Lombok who were active in the regional assemblies. The sample used by 80 people was determined by the Taro Yamane formula, and using a simple random sampling technique. Data analysis uses simple linear regression test. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that found a stereotypical relationship on the behavior of Javanese people with the effectiveness of communication among Lombok students. This can be seen from the results of hypothesis testing where the value of r count> from r table (0.563> 0.220).
