EFEK ANTIMIKROBA EKSTRAK KELOPAK BUNGA ROSELLA (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn.) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN Streptococcus pyogenes SECARA IN VITRO
Daftar Isi:
- Background: Streptococcus pyogenes is a Gram positive pathogenic bacteria that causesinfectious diseases that occur throughout the world. This bacteria can cause local and invasive infections that can be life threatening. Penicillin is the drug of choice for treating infections. However, the use of this drug can cause side effects and resistance. Rosellecalyxs have an antimicrobial effect because they contain the main compounds such as phenol and flavonoid. Purpose: To prove the antimicrobial effect of roselle calyxs(Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn.) extract for growth Streptococcus pyogenesin vitro. Research Methods: True experimental, post test only control group design, using disc diffusion method to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and tube dilution method to determine the Minimum Bactericidal Concentration(MBC) with various concentrations(100%; 25%; 12.5%; 6.25%; 3.12%; 1.56%; 0.78%; 0.39%; 0%). Data analysis using One Way ANOVA and Linear Regression. Results and Discuss: The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC)at a 1.56% with an average inhibition diameter was 1 mm and optimum inhibitory power at a100% with average inhibition diameter was 30 mm. The Minimum Bactericidal Concentration(MBC) at a3.12%. One way ANOVA test p <0.05 showed a significant difference between treatments. Linear Regression Testshowed Adjusted R Square 79.9%, it means by giving of roselle calyxs extract had affected to the inhibition of Streptococcus pyogenesand Adjusted R Square 52.3% it means by giving of roselle calyxs extract had affected tokill of Streptococcus pyogenes. Conclusion: The roselle calyxs(Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn.)extracthad antimicrobial effect forgrowth of Streptococcus pyogenesin vitro.
