- In order to face Rohingya crisis, Thailand government applies refusal policy towards the incoming Rohingya refugee. Through its security department, ISOC, Thailand intercept ship that has Rohingya refugee on board and detains any Rohingya that has already entering Thailand inside the detention camp. After the detention period is over, Thailand send the Rohingya back to Myanamar illegally. This research been conducted using Constructivist theory by Peter J. Katzenstein, which the theory explains an identity that occur in a country can directly or indirectly affects the country’s policy. With that base, this research use Southern Thailand Insurgent as its statehood identity and Islamophobia as the nationhood identity. Based on the theory, Thailand’s refusal policy towards the Rohingya refugee is occur because the Islamophobia, not only in the grassroot level, but also in the government level. The Islamophobia identity itself emerged from the influence of radical Buddhist (Militant Monk) from Myanmar and also from the ongoing Southern Thailand Muslim-Malay Insugency. Even without any influence from the radical Buddhist, the ongoing insurgency in its southern part can solely and directly alarming the government. It happens because the same identity, which is Islam and the similar purpose of home and religious freedom.
