- This study aims to describe the category of the ability of student’s mathematical concepts understanding using cooperative learning models of think-pair-share type, especially in trigonometric equations material. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection technique used is by giving tests, interviews, and documentation. Question test sheets are validated by the math teacher first. Data analysis techniques use qualitative data analysis techniques, activities in analyzing data namely data reduction, data exposure, and conclusion drawing. Based on the analysis of the results of research on the ability to understand the mathematical concepts of students using the cooperative learning model think-pair-share type it can be concluded that: 1) the application of the cooperative learning model think-pair-share type shown in this learning model can improve the ability to understand the mathematical concept of students in the material of trigonometric equations in class XI MIPA 1 SMAN 02 Batu by applying learning steps, namely think stage, pair stage, and share stage, and 2) students with the ability to understand high category concepts show processing information that is relevant to solving problem correctly according to the theory used; students with the ability to understand the mathematical concepts of the category are showing understanding of mathematical concepts that have not been effective, and students with the ability to understand mathematical concepts in low categories show that the understanding of mathematical concepts obtained is still below the relevant word.
