- Background: Trauma is a serious health problem and carries a huge burden on society. Trauma is the leading cause of mortality, morbidity, and contributes to disability annually. Before an increase in mortality, first, we must know the prognosis caused by trauma. Prognosis assessment can be seen from the condition and severity of the injury. Patients with poor prognosis need referral to a subspecialist health services according to medical indications to increase the patient’s survival rate. Purpose of research: To determine the correlation between the trauma and injury severity score (TRISS) and prognosis patient of trauma in the hospital TK II Dr. Soepraoen at Malang City Metode: This study was a retrospective study and used medical records of trauma patients who need to treatment in the hospital TK II Dr. Soepraoen by using a purposive sampling technique from August – December 2018. This study was conducted on bivariate analysis by using spearman rank correlation test. Results: From 181 medical records of trauma patients analyzed, it showed that the significant value (p = 0.002) and the correlation coefficient (r = 0.225), which means there was a relationship between the TRISS and prognosis of trauma patients in the Hospital TK II Dr. Soepraoen at Malang City Conclusion: Trauma and Injury Severity Score is the most commonly used combination method, because of assessing anatomical patterns and physiological responses from injuries also contain important the prognosis information.
