- This research aims to understand, analyse, review, and interpret more in every symbol or mark about the traditions of seedlings, bebet, and weights in Javanese traditional marriages that appear in the film Prospective Son-in-Law in all aspects Using a semiotic analysis approach. The theory used in this study was the semiotic theory belonging to Roland Barthes. This research uses qualitative research approaches with interpretive qualitative research types. The results of this research show that in this modern era there are still people who use traditions of seedlings, bebet, and weights in determining the match for their children. In addition, the results of the study also showed the impact of the selection of matches using this tradition. The things depicted in reverse are intended to make the audience more understanding without having to think about how this tradition is done.
