  • Lateral load has a large effect on drift’s structures due to lateral load. Belt truss system commonly used in building structure because this system able to control drift that occur due to lateral loads. However, in high-rise building the effect of lateral load such as earthquakes has large effect to the structures. Therefore belt truss system can be chosen as an appropriate structure. This paper studies the use of belt truss system for high-rise building subjected to earthquake load. The research object used is a 35-storey building, by comparing the belt truss structure with the existing structure without belt truss. Then analyzed and compared to find lateral displacement reduction related to the belt truss system location. The results are for the strong axis, 21.80% reduction in maximum displacement and the weak axis, 20.11% reduction in maximum displacement can be achieved with the optimum location of the belt truss at the middle of the structure height which is between 15th level and 16th level.
