- Background: Tuberculosis is caused by the infection of the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Multiple-Drug Resistance-Tuberculosis is an example of a TB resistant to rifampisin and isoniazid simultaneously. The treatment of MDR-TB patients uses first- and second-line anti-tuberculosis antidotes. The usage of etambutol, pirazinamid, and levofloksasin resulted in several side effects, the kidney being one of those affected areas. The researcher used noni (mengkudu) extracts containing flavonoid, betakaroten, vitamins and skopoletin as antioxidant and anti-inflammation substances. Aims: Proving the existence of nefroprotective effects of noni fruit’s extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) towards the improvement of the histo-pathologic depiction of a male white mouse’s strain wistar kidney cells inducted by pirazinamid, etambutol, and levofloksasin. Methods: True experimental with post test only control group design. The sample will be divided into five groups. The so-called ‘negative’ ones will be provided with the usual feed and drink, whereas the ‘positive’ groups will be provided with pirazinamid, etambutol and levofloksasin. Groups 1, 2 and 3 will be provided with mengkudu extracts with the doses of, respectively, 20, 40 and 80 milligrams/200grBB per day, along with the pirazinamid, etambutol and levofloksasin for 28 days, taking into consideration the infiltration cases of interstitial inflammation cells at three poles of kidneys at 400x magnification, every pole with two fields of view. Results and Discussion: From the one-way ANOVA test, the (p<0.05) result was obtained for all subject groups, which meant that there were nefroprotective effects from mengkudu extracts toward the improvement of histo-pathological depiction of kidney cells, meaning the decrease of the subject mice’s interstitial inflammation. The R Square for the linear regression result was 0,881. Conclusion(s): The mengkudu extracts (Morinda citrifolia L.) has nefroprotective effects towards the improvement of histo-pathological depiction of male white mice’s (Rattus Norvegicus) strain wistar kidney cells.
