  • This research aims to determine the differences of Mathematics learning outcomes between students who learned using open problem approach (open -ended approach) and students who learned using the conventional learning. Mathematical learning in schools generally still uses lecture and question and answer methods so that student learning outcomes are difficult to develop. This study uses an open-ended approach to learning mathematics to improve student learning outcomes. This study uses an experimental quantitative approach. The research method uses the true experiment method. The population of this study was Muhammadiyah 9 Elementary School Malang. The sample of this study was the 4th grade students of Al-Batani and 4th grade Al-Kindi, each of which consisted of 29 students. Class 4 Al-Kindi as the control class and Class 4 Al-Batani as the experimental class. Analysis of the data used are normalits test, homogeneity test, and t-test. Student learning outcomes can be seen from the results of the Independent Sample T-test. It is known that the signification value indicates the probability value is 0,000 less than 5%, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means the two population averages are not identical. Which means that the open ended approach greatly influences student learning outcomes.
