  • Ecotourism is an alternative tourism product that has a goal along with sustainable tourism development (Sudiarta, 2006). One of which will carry out ecotourism-based tourism development, namely Lumajang Regency, East Java. One of the potentials that can be managed in Lumajang Regency is a bamboo forest located in Sumbermujur Village, Candipuro District. Ecotourism management and development must be planned so that the impact it creates creates employment and improves the economy of the surrounding community. The concept of ecotourism development is not only seen in terms of economics only in development, it must also consider the environmental aspects that exist. The purpose of this study was to find out the Impact of Tourism Development on Sumbermujur Bamboo Forest on the Social and Economic Life of Local Communities in Subermujur Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency. The research was conducted from June to November 2018 in the Sumbermujur Village Bamboo Forest Tourism Area, Candipuro District, Lumjang Regency, East Java. The method of data collection is done by field observations, interviews using purposive sampling method and Literature research. Data analysis used is descriptive quantitative and quantitative analysis. The data sought in this study were the behavior, attitudes of the community and the economy of the community with the development of bamboo forest tourism. Based on the results of research with the development of bamboo forest tourism the community is increasingly understanding about the use and maintenance of the environment. The development of bamboo forest tourism also improves the economy of the community as shown by the Walcoxon t-test with a sig value of 0.00 <0.05, then Ho is rejected which means that there is a difference between the average income of the community before and after tourism. Community income participating in tourism development before the development of tourism has an average income of Rp. 1,000,000.00-Rp. 2,000,000.00, while the average income of the community after tourism development is Rp.2,000,000.00-Rp. 3,000,000.00.
