UJI KARAKTERISTIK FISIK DAN UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI GEL EKSTRAK ETANOL BAWANG DAYAK (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.)Merr.) (Terhadap Staphylococcus epidermidis)
Daftar Isi:
- Background: The naptaquinone content in Bawang Dayak can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Therefore it can be made as an antibacterial agent in gel dosage forms. Purpose: This study was to determine the effect of Dayak Onion levels with concentrations of 2%, 4% and 6% on the physical characteristics of Dayak Onion extract ethanol and to determine the antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis. Methods: Ethanol extract of Dayak Onion was formulated into gel in 3 formulas, namely concentration (2%), (4%), and (6%). Tests for physical characteristics include organoleptic, pH, viscosity, and dispersion. The antibacterial activity test was tested by the well diffusion method. Results and Conclusions: Gel preparations have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Organoleptic tests for formula I (2%), II (4%) and III (6%) showed the results of brownish red, distinctive odor, and semi-solid form. In the results of the test data, there were no significant differences in pH and significant differences in viscosity and dispersion. But it does not have a significant difference in antibacterial activity. Based on the physical characteristics of pH, viscosity and dispersion, the preparation of the ethanol extract of Dayak Onion extract was obtained formula III (6%), namely the average inhibition zone of 31.33mm which gave optimal results..
