  • Indonesian Heart Association (2015) The incidence of cardiac arrest in Indonesia ranges from 10 out of 100,000 normal people aged under 35 years and annually reaches around 300,000-350,000 events. The high incidence of cardiac arrest is also followed by the survival rate of patients with very small cardiac arrest, which is only 12%. One effort to improve survival in patients with cardiact arrest is to increase people's knowledge and attitudes about Basic Life Support including teaching Basic Life Support training to students using video media and CPR demonstrations. Method This study used a quasi experimental design with a pre-post test one group design method. The sample used was students of class X and XI Science / Social Sciences at Muhammadiyah 1 Malang High School in February 2019. The variables observed were changes in knowledge and attitudes. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon with significant α = 0.05. Result The results showed that in the value of knowledge, the previous average score was 11.64 which increased at posttest until it reached 15.05 with a standard deviation of 1.61. In the attitude value, the average pretest score was 4.62. experienced an increase at the posttest to reach 6.09 with a standard deviation of 1.30. Significance value (p-value) obtained by using Wilcoxon data analysis both knowledge and attitude is (0,000), then H1 is accepted so it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education about BLS using video methods and CPR demonstration on the level of knowledge and attitudes in high school students Muhammadiyah 1 Malang City. Discussion Knowledge and a good theoretical attitude about CPR does not guarantee an increase in willingness to conduct CPR. In addition to teaching techniques, we must also discuss the motivation of each student, hoping they can translate their knowledge and attitudes so that they become a better perception of BLS from one generation to another.
