- Batam is one of the cities in Riau Islands Province which is geographically very close to several neighboring countries as a business and service center in the Asia Pacific region which provides great benefits to attract foreign tourists. This is evidenced by the increasing number of foreign tourists who come to Batam every year and with the appointment of Batam as one of the 10 cities by the government as a city of MICE tourism in Indonesia has a multiplier effect on those who benefit from MICE events. MICE tourism is an activity that leads travel business meetings, negotiations both on a national and international scale. This thesis discusses the role carried out by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in Batam City in developing MICE tourism as a leading tourist impact on increasing income and the number of tourists visiting Batam. From the brief description above, the researcher conducted a study entitled "THE ROLE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE AND TOURISM IN DEVELOPING MICE TOURISM (MEETING, INTENSIVE, CONFERENCE, AND EXHIBITION) OBJECTIVE". This study aims to evaluate the role of the Culture and Tourism Office in developing MICE tourist destinations in Batam City, the factors that influence and the role of the Batam City Tourism and Culture Office. In this study the authors used descriptive qualitative research methods with an inductive approach. The technique used for collection is through interviews, documentation. for data analysis techniques using qualitative data mode analysis techniques interactive data collection, data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the research conducted there are several inhibiting factors for the development of Batam in developing MICE tourist destinations, and how the role of the Culture and Tourism Office as the Government in developing MICE tourism in Batam City.
