  • This study aims at presenting the role of SMA YKHS and SMA SMA Darul Munir of Eastern Bangkalan Madura’headmasters as managers, the supporting factors of success, the problems faced by the headmasters and their efforts in solving those problems. This study employed descriptive qualitative method as the research approach and used multi-site study. The data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation study. The result shows that the role of SMA YKHS and SMA SMA Darul Munir ofEastern bangkalan madura’headmasters as the managers are: 1) Involving teachers and staff in managing the school programs; 2) Conducting curriculum management; 3) Creating a conducive learning climate and achievement; 4) Engaging teachers to attend training to improve their competence; 5) Providing facilities and infrastructure to support school activities; 6) Planning the budget; 7) Conducting a student management activity; 8) Specifically assigning teachers to handle the program, and 9) Monitoring. The internal factors that influence the successful and headmasters as the managers are the teachers’ cooperation in optimizing their potentials and their sincere desire to run the school programs that have been planned together. The external factor is the strong support from the parents on the programs run by the school. The internal constrain faced by SMA YKHS and SMA YKHS of BANGKALAN MADURA’ headmasters as the manager is the limited time for teachers to do or run the programs. Meanwhile, the external constrain is the parents’ awareness of those school’s programs. The efforts performed by SMA YKHS and SMA SMA Darul Munir Bangkalan madura’ headmasters as the managers in improving the school quality to solve both internal and external constrains are informing the teachers to actively perform or run the programs that have been planned.
