PENGARUH LATIHAN RELAKSASI OTOT PROGRESIF TERHADAP PENURUNAN TEKANAN DARAH PADA LANJUT USIA DENGAN HIPERTENSI DI KELURAHAN BUNULREJO MALANG

- Research background: Hypertension is a condition in which the vasoconstriction of blood vessels in the heart causes blood pressure increases. Hypertension can be treated by pharmacology or non-pharmacology. Non-pharmacological treatments that the elderly can do is progressive muscular relaxation exercises. This study aims to determine the effect of progressive muscular relaxation exercises on decreasing elderly blood pressure with hypertension in Bunulrejo, Malang regency, this research using instrument sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure. Method: This study used a pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest design involving 30 respondents using purposive sampling and it is analyzed using Wilcoxon test. Discussion and Result: The Wilcoxon test results showed that a significance value on the difference between pretest and posttest systolic blood pressure was 0,000 (p< 0.05) and diastolic blood pressure was 0,000 (p< 0.05). Conclusion of the wilcoxon test results showed that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Conclusion: Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test, it showed there was an effect of progressive muscular relaxation exercise on blood pressure reduction in the elderly with hypertension in Bunulrejo, Malang Regency.
