  • This Butterfly Plant (Bauhinia purpurea L.) is a plant that is widely planted as road shade and greening. Medium-sized butterfly trees with a height reaching 5-9 meters. The bark is grayish brown in color. Leaves measuring 10-20 cm, green in shape resembling butterfly wings; part of the base is double rounded (like the base of the liver) and the ends are double soaring. This plant grows well in tropical and subtropical regions with an altitude between 500-2000 meters above sea level. In Indonesia, butterfly flowers are usually planted as greenery on the roadside, as a living fence (Widiyantoro, 2010). To determine the interaction of planting media and different dosages of ZA fertilizer when given to the Butterfly seedlings (B. purpurea L.) which are still in polybags. This research was conducted in the forestry department laboratory (Schreen house), Faculty of Agriculture-Animal Husbandry, University of Muhammadiyah Malang starting from June to August 2017. The research method used RAK (randomized block design) with 2 (two) factors. Factor 1 Planting media and Factor 2 ZA fertilizer. All treatments were repeated 3 times. Observations were made 1 week after administration of fertilizer for 8 weeks (2 months). After the data is obtained, the data will be analyzed by analysis of variance and then if it has a significant or very significant effect on the treatment, a docking test of the level of 5% is carried out. Based on the observations obtained, it can be concluded as follows: (1) There is no interaction between the growing media and the dose of ZA fertilizer on the growth of butterfly seedlings (B. purpurea L.). (2) The type of planting medium and dose of ZA fertilizer against the growth of butterfly seedlings (B. purpurea L.). The best treatment for butterfly seedlings (B. purpurea L.) was maintenance (M1) with an average of 27.47 cm and ZA fertilizer (P1) by yielding an average of 28.48 cm. (3) from the best weighing results, the weight is directed at (M3) with an average of 3.53 gr and (P1) with an average of 3.64 gr. While the Dry Weight, the best is directed at (M3) with a mean of 0.22 gr and (P1) with an average of 0.24 gr.
