- The management tourism of Koka beach certainly involves people around the tourist objects both male and female. Farming and working as fishermen were livelihoods, which were income main source for Wolowiro village community. The low income that got from farming and fishing in fulfilling the daily needs of Wolowiro villagers requires the community to look for other income sources. Due to the potential of Koka beach, the community took the initiative to make it as a tourist place. In line with the development of Koka beach tourism, women could exploit job opportunities. The characteristic of work in tourism was closely relate to the characteristics of world work carried out by women in domestic world, such as cooking or serving dishes for tourists or cleaning rooms. In addition, women took advantage of tourism development by opening businesses and providing other facilities for tourists. This certainly helped Wolowiro community in facing the pressure of economic situation. This study used descriptive approach with type of qualitative research, and was carried out in Wolowiro village, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. The research subjects in this study were Wolowiro village women and the technique of determining research subjects using purposive sampling by collecting data using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The theoretical perspective used to analyze research problem was Max Weber’s social action theory. The result of the study concluded that the family economy tends to be very weak which requires women to engage in tourism activities. The existence of economic community activities in tourism activities, women want to take advantage of these opportunities to get additional income to help fill family needs. The action taken by these women were action taken based on conscious considerations and choices related to the goal of generating additional income to fill the economic needs of the family as well as carrying out these actions because of the availability of tools to achieve goal.
