  • This study examined the utilization of techniques in learning speaking. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of the utilization of appropriate speaking learning techniques departing from the circumstances and needs of students. The process of data collection was conducted by means of observing the entire process of learning activities in the classroom and interviewing the teacher. Observation results were obtained based on checklists and field notes, the results of observations were supported by the results of the transcribed-analyzed interview. The results of the analysis emerged three various speaking teaching techniques viz. class discussion, group discussion, storytelling integrated with 'estafet' writing. The study of the utilization of various teaching techniques is indeed beneficial for a well-implemented process of learning speaking in the classroom in order to achieve the objectives of the learning process.
