  • Culture is the identity of a country. Every country has a culture that is different from other countries. Namely beliefs, language, values, and knowledge. Not only that, the learning process is also different. This difference can make a person feel culture shock. Likewise, Thai students who study at UMM experience a culture shock in the learning process. In this study, there are two research problems. The researcher wanted to know the Thai students culture shock in learning processes were Thai students experienced and the way they solved the culture shock that they experienced in learning processes while studying at UMM. The descriptive qualitative design is employed in this study. In this study, the researcher used a questionnaire and interview as an instrument. In addition, the object of this study there is five Thai students who study at English Language Education the UMM academic year 2015. In order to analyze the data collection, there are some steps employed; they were: shared a questionnaire, and interviewed Thai students, giving further findings on data findings, and drawing a conclusion. The result of the study shows that the culture shock that Thai students experienced in learning process namely: communication defectiveness, academic retardation, and conflict. To solve their problems in communication defectiveness, they tried to learn Javanese and increase reading Indonesian-language books. For problems on academic retardation, they tried to adapt to the different learning processes they encounter, and become more active students. Lastly to solve the problems they face, they resolved directly either alone or with the help of classmates.
