  • This study aims to determine the effect of variations in compressive load on friction welding on the distortion test, tensile test and impact test with aluminum type 5083 with a friction stir welding method. The material used is 3 mm thick, 350 mm long, 100 mm wide. Welding is carried out with variations in loads including 9 kg, 12 kg and 15 kg. The welding process is done by adjusting the milling machine on the slope of the shaft 1 ° and the toll rotation of 1250 Rpm and the welding time for 6 minutes. From this study it was found that the smallest distortion was using a variation of 9 kg loading, then 12 kg, and 15 kg late. The best tensile strength results in 15 kg loading variation produces a maximum stress value of 229.9486 Mpa, a yield stress of 167.4 Mpa, while the impact testing value at a variation of 9 kg yields an average impact price of 0.643 Joule / mm2.
