  • Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) most caused by diabetes mellitus (DM) with increasing prevalency. Other causes, glomerulonephritis, hypertension, urinary tract infection was called as caused non DM. Diagnose of CKD was determine by clinical (blood pressure) and laboratories (levels of hemoglobin, albumin, ureum, creatinine, potassium, sodium, chloride) could be a predictor for early stage, either CKD caused by DM and non DM. Furthermore, could be done early treatment to inhibit the progression of CKD and certainly to reduced the morbidity and mortality. Research Objective: To determine the differences clinical and laboratories characteristic CKD caused by DM and non DM. Research Method: Observational analytic description with cross sectional approach. Samples were obtained with a consequtive sampling technique was as much as 92 people. To determine the differences between variables was performed independent t test. Experimental Result: Based on independent t test, there was significant differences levels ofalbumin, ureum, creatinine, and sodium in CKD caused by DM and non DM patients with p < 0,05. Whereas, for the blood pressure, levels of hemoglobin, potassium, and chloride was obtained p > 0,05 that mean nothing significant differences. Conclusion: Laboratories characteristic of CKD caused by DM were different with CKD caused by non DM that could be seen from levels of albumin, ureum, creatinine, and sodium.
