- Abstract Seaweed is an Indonesian export commodity, market demand continues to increase from year to year. Eucheuma cottonii seaweed is one type of red algae that is often used in various fields of food, industry, cosmetics, medicine and others. The content of compounds found in red seaweed Eucheuma cottonii is able to control the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus is often found in infected fish. Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are gram-positive bacteria that are round in shape and have a diameter of 0.7-1.2 um. Measurement of bacterial inhibition zone diameter using a concentration of Eucheuma cottonii extract limited to 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, aquadest and cloramphenicol. In this study the results of the test of Eucheuma cottonii extract 50% inhibition zone diameter of 7.33. It was concluded that the Eucheuma cottonii extract was 50% the diameter of the largest bacterial inhibitory zone.
