- The increasing number of people in the city of Bontang causes more waste, thus, it is needed planning on TPA (final disposal sites) to accommodate the amount of waste produced by a city, as well as needed an optimal machine operation in TPA so that the waste processing can be run well. The plans and development of waste processing system require the information and landfill data. As a result, this research aims to determine Bontang’s landfill based on National Indonesian Standards (SNI) Number 19-3964-1994. TPA Bontang Lestari is the most active TPA in Bontang which includes three sub-districts, namely north, south, and west. The provided total area is 15 Ha with 4 passive cells and 4 active cells up to 2018. TPA Bontang Lestari provides 2 heavy equipment, namely excavator and bulldozer. The results of the research show that the average person in Bontang produces 0.429 kilograms of waste per day, and the mean of landfill density is 178.376 (kg/m3). As of 2018, amounting 70.46 tons per day goes to landfill. Furthermore, 2027 would produce 81.78 tons of waste per day. Therefore, the need of the area in 2018 up to 2027 is predicted to have 3.79 Ha. The productivity of excavator and bulldozer are 122.82 m3/day and 136.06 m3/day. The operation costs of excavator and bulldozer are 377.955 rupiahs/hour and 300.724 rupiahs/hour.
