  • Agriculture in Indonesia has an important meaning for human life. Of the many types of agriculture available, research here discusses the onion crop, it is because of the many types of pests and diseases of the onion plants where the red onion farmers still do not know much about pests and diseases of this plant. In this study an expert system application was made which aims to provide information about various types of pests and diseases of the shallot plants using the forward chaining method and certainty factor. This method will be used to find out the conclusions of pests or diseases from various symptoms that have been inputted. This expert system is web based using PHP and MySQL programming languages as its database. The results of this study are expected to be used to identify pests and diseases in shallot plants, so farmers do not need to wait for an agricultural expert to identify pests and diseases from these plants. This system has been tested and can be used by farmers.
