- This research aims at describing about student motivation in learning mathematics and problem solving ability mathematics to complete the mathematics question of comparison. This research is a descriptive research with quantitative approach. The object of this research are learning motivation and problem solving ability mathematics of students. Students of grade VII SMP NU Sunan Giri Kepanjen are considered as the data sources. Questionnaire which is to know student motivation learning, and also written tests which are aimed at identifying students capability insolving mathematic problem are the instruments of this research. The data analyze to do with counting value of average student motivation in learning mathematics and problem solving ability mathematics. The research findings show that student motivation in learning mathematics and problem solving ability mathematics are well. The student’s learning motivation the average score obtained is 79,56 with high categories. The problem solving the average score obtained is 84,28 with good categories too.
