  • Community Participation in Waste Management through the Temas Bersinar Waste Bank Community (Study in the Temas Bersinar Waste Bank and Temas Village. This study aims to explain community participation in the management of waste banks and the factors that become obstacles in the process of community participation in Temas Bersinar waste bank activities. It use the concept of community participation consisting of aspects of planning, implementation, utilization, and evaluation in the activities of the waste bank The research method in this study is descriptive qualitative research method that seeks to describe and explain the focus or object of research. The primary data sources used are interview results, while secondary data sources are documents from the garbage bank Temas Bersinar and Temas Village, documentation of pictures / photos, journals, and books related to the focus of the research. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that community participation has been realized in the activities of planning, implementation, utilization, and evaluation, which have not been implemented optimally. Planning of waste bank activities only involves the management elite. Implementation of waste bank activities consists of training activities and the implementation of waste recycling and waste saving activities. The utilization of waste bank activities consists of two aspects, namely the economic benefits for waste bank members and the environmental benefits for the Temas village which are characterized by the existence of an ecological village. While the evaluation also only involved elites and carried out in internal evaluation of garbage banks and externally with Environmental Agency of Batu City. The problems that arise are decreasing public awareness, lack of careful planning and limited budgetary resources.
