  • Bontang is one of the cities in East Kalimantan Province that is oriented in the field of industry, services and trade. The growing population in Berbas Tengah Village, City of Bontang causes the number of waste time generated increased. The efforts of community participation in waste reduction from waste source are still not visible. One of the solutions to these problems in handling the dump that rises in Berbas Tengah Village is with the planning of Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). The research method used based on Indonesia National Standart (SNI) 19-3964-1995 on method of capturing and measuring examples of solid waste and composition of waste. The analysis result shows that Solid waste are 0,46 kg/person/day or 2,36 liters/person/day with the result of the total projection of solid waste for 10 years is 84.826 tons/day. Waste composition in Berbas Tengah village is including 59,02% organic waste, 17,30% plastic, 3,30% metal, 3,29% glass, 13,78% paper and cardboard, 1,18% rubber, 0,56% fabric and leather, and 1,57% others. The total area of Materials Recovery Facility is planned at 939,932 m2. The area of reception and sorting is 36 m2, the composting area is 735 m2, compost storage area and the goods stalls is 48,369 m2, and 128 m2 to support buildings. The budget plan required in the contruction of MRF in Berbas Tengah village, Bontang city is about Rp. 984.373.855,-.
