  • Krian 5-junction is one of the strategic intersections in Sidoarjo regency along the connection route of Mojokerto to Sidoarjo, Gresik, and its surrounding area. This cause the traffic volume increases which potentially resulted in traffic congestion, vehicle queue, and delay. This study aims at finding out the characteristics of traffic’s and junction performance. The method applied in this study in the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) year of 1997. The performance of Krian is shows the capacity value (northern causeway 404 pcu/hour, western causeway 766 pcu/hour, southern 1 causeway 445 pcu/hour, southern 2 causeway 164 pcu/hour, and eastern causeway 845 pcu/hour). The intersection degree of saturation (northern causeway 0.74, western causeway 0.86, southern 1 causeway 0.68, saouthern 2 causeway 0.57, and eastern causeway 0.89), the vehicle queue lenth (northern causeway 170.97 m, western causeway 198.65 m, southern 1 causeway 135.90 m, southern 2 causeway 69.81 m, and eastern causeway 221.71 m), the junction average delay is 447.45. Based on the parameters, the junction performance is included in class F. Therefore, the alternative to solve this issue is by changing the junction phase from 4 to 3.
