- This study was conducted to determine the effect of point weld current on tensile strength, and microstructure of 304 type stainless steel plate joints. In this study, the plate thickness used was 1 mm for each material. The welding currents used are 3 kA, 4 kA, 5 kA, 6 kA, the pressing time used is 0.5 seconds, and the welding time used is 3 seconds. Mechanical testing used is tensile testing, while the physical test used is microstructure testing. Testing of tensile strength using the AWS standard D.8.1. The results showed that the greater the current strength used, the larger the nugget diameter and inversely proportional to its tensile strength, the greater the current strength, the smaller the tensile strength. Microstructure testing can be seen in soft ferrite dominated nugget areas which can reduce material tensile strength.
