- The object of this legal research is the the freedom and ethics of the press in terms of Islamic law and positive law. The problem that researchers took was how Metro Tv independence in delivering Reunion 212 coverage was viewed from aspects of Islamic Law and Positive Law and also knew the legal consequences of the Metro press TV which delivered the news was not based on independence and honesty in terms of aspects of Islamic Law and Positive Law. The legal material collection technique that the researchers did was by collecting primary, secondary and tertiary legal sources so that the method of collecting legal materials was carried out through library research and researchers searched internet materials by obtaining both literature and internet access articles and other reliable sources. The analytical method used by the author is qualitative descriptive. The method used is normative juridical. The results of this study are the lack of honesty, independence and neutrality of the Metro TV program Editorial Media Indonesia which was applied in delivering the news even led to the utterance of hatred. In the delivery of journalistic news, there should be a principle of independence and neutrality that must be held firmly by expressing objectively the events of Islamic law originating from several verses of the Qur'an.Whereas through the hadith, ijma, qiyas and fatwas not found any discussion of independence and neutrality conveyed the news and discussion of independence and neutrality in conveying the news seen in the source of positive law consisting of: Press Law No. 40 of 1999, Journalistic Code of Ethics and Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Broadcast Program Standards Ways of reporting or delivering news broadcast by the Metro Tv program "Editorial Media Indonesia" have violated the ethics of delivering coverage in Islamic law which is in the verse of Al Quran QS An Nur verse 19 while from the hadith, ijma, qiyas and fatwas no discussion was found the result of delivering news is not based on independence and honesty and in positive law, the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission decided that Media Indonesia Editorial shows violated the 2012 Broadcasting Commission's Broadcasting Code of Conduct Article 22 Paragraphs (2) and (3) and the 2012 Indonesian Broadcasting Commission Broadcast Program Standards Article 40 letter a and Central KPI decided to sanction administrative Written Reprimand based on violations committed by Metro Tv in the form of broadcasting news not based on independence and honesty
