  • The absence of learning media related to counting and spelling in thematic learning, teachers only use simple media which is found in the classroom only, students have difficulty understanding the concepts of counting and spelling. Students are more motivated and enthusiastic when they learn in using the real media. This research aims to determine the process of developing counting and spelling board learning media (PATUNGJA) and also the student responses to this PATUNGJA media. This research uses an ADDIE model development research. The sources of data from this study are primary school students at grade 1, teachers, media expert validators, thematic validators, and learning expert validators. This research was conducted in the even semester 2018/2019. This research is carried out through five stages, the analysis phase, the design stage, the development stage, the implementation phase, and also the evaluation phase. The results of this research indicate that (1) the validity of PATUNGJA media obtained from the validation of media experts with the presentation of a score of 88.8%, the criteria are very valid. Thematic validators with presentations of 85% score are very valid criteria. Validator learning experts with a presentation score of 89.2% criteria are very valid. (2) media attractiveness is obtained from the response of students and teachers. Assessment of student responses shows a presentation score of 91.6%. From the results of validity, and attractiveness, it can be concluded that the media of Counting and Spelling Board (PATUNGJA) is suitable for use in the learning process.
