  • Misconception is a difference of conception between students and the explanation from the experts. This research is needed to find out the misconception on the students and to know the causing factors of misconception on students trying to solve PISA problems. This is a qualitative descriptive research. Methods used are CRI technique and interviews to find out misconcepsion causing factors on the students. The datas were collected from class XI of SMAN 2 mojokerto with 71 students did the paper test, and 4 students were filtered to do the interviews. As a result, according to CRI, students who had misconceptions are 37% on problem 1, 0% on problem 2, 14% on problem 3, 6% on problem 4, and 23% on problem 5. From the interviews, misconceptions causing factors occurred on the students were misconceptions on understanding the problems, building strategy to solve the problems, and a misconception on the conception process or early concept.
