- Background: infection is a disease that has been suffered by Indonesian people for a long time one of the most is caused by the Escherichia coli bacteria, resistance to modern medicine has encouraged the development of alternative medicine. In previous studies Citrus reticulata fruit peel contained polyphenols, flavonoids, triterpenoids/steroids. the compounds have the potential as an antibacterial. Objective: The purpose of this research is to obtain the data on the antibacterial activity of compound components found in the ethanol fraction of fruit peel (Citrus reticulata) toward Escherichia coli, which can be obtained from the inhibition zone. Method: The method researcher used was the disc diffusion method with Escherichia coli test bacteria. The control sample consisted of 3 test concentrations 5%, 10%, and 25%,the positive controls used chloramphenicol 30μg, the negative controls used DMSO 2%. Results and Discussion: The results of the antibacterial activity test of ethanol fraction of Citrus reticulata. fruit peel by disc diffusion method, at a concentration 5% on average showed a diameter of 8,66 mm, at a concentration of 10% is 9,32 mm, and in concentration of 25% is 11,52 mm and positive control of chloramphenicol 30 μg is 22,81 mm.
