  • Background: Thypoid fever is an infectious disease caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria Gram negative. Whose treatment needs to be given antibiotics but now there has been a lot of resistance so that the need to develop treatment especially from natural ingredients. Objective:First is to obtained diameter zone inhibition of ethyl acetate Eleutherine palmifolia L. tuber fraction to the growth of Salmonella typhi and second is to find out secondary metabolite group which is contained on the ethyl acetate Eleutherine palmifolia L. tuber fraction. Method:The powder of Eleutherine palmifolia tuber in maceration level method with ethyl acetate then secondary metabolite identification with KLT methods. The concentration used was ethyl acetate Eleutherine palmifolia L. fraction is 80mg/ml, 120mg/ml and 160mg/ml then positive control which used was chloramphenicol 15μg/disc and the negative control is tween 80 10. The antibacterial activities test used was disc diffusion method by installing disc which were previously applied in the solid media had been applied with Salmonella typhi bacterial suspension and then incubated at 37oc for 24 hours. Result and Conclusion:The result of secondary metabolite identification with thin layer chromatography method, was showing positive results on terpenoid, alkaloid, polifenol, antrakuinon and flavonoid. The results of antibacterial activities ethyl acetate Eleutherine palmifolia L. fraction against Salmonella typhiwith various concentrations were 80mg/ml, 120mg/ml and 160mg/ml has diameter inhibition zone is 15,13±3,6; 15,30±3,63 and 16,90±1,9. So, it was concluded that ethyl acetate Eleutherine palmifolia L. fraction has strong antibacterial activities against of Salmonella typhi.
