- Social media is currently growing and has various types of each. But as technology advances, many people abuse social media to spread hoax news. This study aims to: (1) Know the understanding of social media literacy among adolescents of Balearjosari Sub-district, Blimbing District of Malang City, (2) Know the understanding of Adolescent Balearjosari Sub-district, Blimbing Sub-district of Malang about hoax news, (3) To find out the teenagers' trust in Balearjosari Sub-District, Blimbing Sub-District, Malang City, (2) Knowing the understanding of Adolescent Balearjosari Sub-District, Blimbing Sub-District of Malang about hoax news, (3) To find out adolescent beliefs of Balearjosari Sub-District, Blimbing Sub-District, Malang City on hoax news. This research uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. This research is located in Balearjosari Village, Blimbing Subdistrict, Malang City. The time needed to conduct the research is 1 month, starting from 6 May to 20 June 2019. There are four stages that must be done in analyzing the data of this research, namely (1) Data collection , (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) conclusion drawing. Based on the research, the following results were obtained: (1) The literacy ability of adolescent media in Balearjosari Village is at an early stage, at this stage the informant has the ability in the form of media introduction, especially the positive and negative effects that are potentially given by the media. (2) The ability of adolescents in Balearjosari Village to examine hoax news is included in the initial category, at this stage the informant is in the ability to assess the content of the news and also assess the headline. (3) The spread of hoax news influences the informants' trust in the news in social media so that the informant has his own views about the news in social media.
