- The development of technology in construction cannot be separated from welding because it has an important role in metal engineering and repair. Many of the factors that influence the results of welding are one of the current selections. The expected goal is to find out whether there is a variation of the weld current to the tensile strength of the ASTM A36 lap joint model. The method used in this study is quantitative research. From the results of calculations and analysis shows that with a current of 60 amperes the average maximum tensile strength is 22.3592 kN, the current of 70 amperes produces an average of 22.7038 kN, and the current of 80 amperes produces an average of 23.0944 kN. So that it can be concluded that the effect of variations on the weld joints of the joint joints affect the tensile strength. But it has no effect on the results of the joint tensile test. This is due to the bending of the parent metal in the haz area, resulting in a strain that makes it break in the parent metal.
