- This research was conducted in Lamongan District regarding the participation of fishing communities in reducing plastic waste. Some of the problems in this study are how do people perceive reducing plastic waste, and how are the forms of fishing community participation in the Brondong Village Fish Auction Place (TPI)? The title of this research is "Community Participation of Fishermen in Reducing Plastic Waste in Lamongan District (Study in Pier Fish Auction Place in Brondong Sub-District, Lamongan Regency)" This study used the eighth typology theory of Arnstein's participation and Max Weber's concept of social action. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods with a case study approach. Research subjects were determined using purposive sampling technique. Data sources are supported by books and journals that are relevant to the focus of the research. Data collection techniques using observation techniques, in-depth interview techniques and documentation. While the data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the participation of fishing communities at the Brondong Village Fish Auction Place (TPI) did not all participate because there were people who were still not aware of the environment around the Fish Auction Place. The perception of fishing communities about waste, which includes waste is normal, garbage is a government matter, and garbage is dirty. The level of participation of the fishing community in the Arnstein ladder typolology is to reach the second stage, namely the form of participation in stairs to (3) informing or informing. Whereas seen from the type of Max Weber's social actions the fishing community at the Fish Auction Place is included in the type of instrumental rationality action.
