- Pineapple leaf fiber is currently and highly used in the furniture and household handicraft industries (UKM) because in addition to being easily obtained, cheap, not harmful to health, it can reduce environmental pollution so that later with the use of composite reinforcement fibers can overcome environmental problems. From those considerations, this study aims to determine the effect of alkalization treatment (NaOH) on the strength of tensile test of pineapple leaf fibers with vacuum infusion method and to determine the type of pineapple leaf fiber composite fracture after a tensile test. Before being made into a composite, the leaves of pineapple got soaked for 2 hours first. Manufacture of composite materials based on ASTM D683-03 standard. From the results of composite tensile testing, the highest average tensile strength in the specimens treated with 6% NaOH was 112 MPa. While the lowest with 0% NaOH treatment was 68 MPa. Composites treated with NaOH had higher strength properties than those not treated with NaOH. The highest strength properties was found in the composite with the highest NaOH treatment
