  • Lubricants are one of important factors in deep drawing process because it aimed to control friction by creating a sliding contact between blank and punch. Therefore, lubricants can be a passive layer to prevent failure due to direct contact between blank and punch. This research is aimed to find out the effect of lubricants viscosity on the required punch load and the hardness value of the material. The result shows that the difference of viscosity in deep drawing process can affect the required punch load and the hardness value of the material. The heaviest load required to press the blank on ISO VG 68 oil is 1562 kg and the lightest load required on cooking oil is 1327.8 kg. the highest result of hardness testing in lower area of product is in cooking oil lubricant, 26.17 VHN. While, the highest result of hardness testing in wall area of product is in cooking oil lubricant, 26.68 VHN. For the more, the highest result of hardness testing in arch area of product is in ISO VG 46 oil lubricant, 29.15 VHN. in all testing, cooking oil lubricant is more effective during the deep drawing process because it does not need too large punch load to press the blank, meanwhile the hardness value at the three test points do not decrease.
