PERBEDAAN JUMLAH TELUR ASCARIS LUMBRICOIDES PADA BAGIAN LUAR TUBUH LALAT MUSCA DOMESTICA DI PASAR GADANG DAN DI PASAR MERGAN KOTA MALANG

- Background: Musca domestica is one of the mechanical vector pathogenic microorganism, including Ascaris lumbricoides that can be transmitted to other person and cause Ascariasis. Temporary waste disposal in market is one of the Musca domestica’s habitat. Purpose: To prove the difference between the amount of Ascaris lumbricoides egg on the outer body surface of Musca domestica at Gadang and Mergan market in Malang. Method: Observational analitic with cross sectional approach. Musca domestica were caught by fly net with 30 swings at those two markets then put into plastic bag filled with alcohol swab 96%. Identified Musca domestica washed with a drop of liquid soap and 5cc 70% alcohol, mixed for 1 minute using vortex, centrifuged with 1500 rpm for 7 minutes. Examined the sediment by direct smear and flotation method. Data analysed by Independent T-test. Result and Discussion: There were 900 Musca domestica caught at Gadang market and 125 Musca domestica were caught at Mergan market. More flies were caught at Gadang market than Mergan market, with t-test significancy <0,05, caused by wider garbage pile and more rotten vegetables waste. There were 17 Ascaris lumbricoides found on the outer body surface of the flies at Gadang market because it was near the gutter. There was no significant difference between the amount of Ascaris lumbricoides at two markets. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the amount of Ascaris lumbricoides egg on the body surface of Musca domestica at Gadang and Mergan market in Malang.
