  • Background: Nephrotic syndrome (NS) consists of proteinuria, edema, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperlipidemia. Corticosteroid is the first-line therapy for NS. Their main effect is through regulation of cytokine gene expression through the glucocorticoid receptor, acting to induce genes coding for anti-inflammatory cytokines and suppress genes for pro-inflammatory cytokines. Objective: A study to determine the use of Corticosteroid in nephrotic syndrome at Dr.Saiful Anwar General Hospital of Malang from January- December 2018. Method: Retrospective observational in nephrotic syndrome patients at Dr.Saiful Anwar General Hospital of Malang from January-December 2018. Results and Conclusions: The pattern of single use of Corticosteroid was 29 patients (19%), combination 2 was 54 patients (33%), combination 3 was 67 patients (43%) and combination 4 was 7 patients (5%). The highest single use was prednisone po 63 %, it was (1 x 27,5 mg) po 14% (4 pasien). The most common used of combination 2 was Kortikosteroid + ACE-I in 33 patients (61%). The most common used combination 3 was Kortikosteroid + ACE-I + ARB in 43 patients (63%). The use of combination 4 has 1 pattern, it was Kortikosteroid + ACE-I + ARB + Imunosupressan in 7 patients (100%). The pattern of switching therapy has 46 patterns.
